Analogies — What & Why?
An analogy is a relationship between two pairs of words/numbers/figures where the second pair shares the same relationship as the first pair.
Format: A : B :: C : ?
Why it matters: Analogy questions are asked in almost every competitive exam including BPSC TRE, testing logical thinking and vocabulary.

Type 1 — Word Analogies (Relationship-Based)
The most common type. Identify the relationship between the first pair, then apply it to the second.

A pair of numbers follows a mathematical pattern. Find the same pattern for the second pair.

Type 3 — Letter Analogies
Letters follow a positional or alphabetical pattern.
Alphabet positions (key ones to remember):
Examples:
Tip: Write out the alphabet positions of each letter when stuck. Skip-counting patterns are very common in BPSC.

Type 4 — General Knowledge Analogies
These test factual knowledge disguised as analogy questions.
Examples:
Strategy: If you know the category of the relationship (capital, currency, tool, study-of), you can eliminate wrong options quickly.
