Three or Four Marks, Every Single Paper
Articles and prepositions are two of the smallest words in English and two of the most heavily tested. In BPSC TRE-4's language paper, in SSC CGL, in CTET's English section and in every Railway paper, you will meet them as fill-in-the-blanks, spot-the-error, and sentence-improvement questions.
They are also the questions candidates most often get wrong for the *wrong reason* — by trusting their ear. "It sounds right" works for a native speaker; in an exam it walks you straight into the trap, because every distractor is built from something that sounds acceptable.
The good news: this is a small, closed system. There are three articles, about forty prepositions in regular use, and perhaps thirty fixed pairings papers actually repeat. Learn the rules once and the marks become automatic — no reading speed required, no vocabulary needed.
1. Fill in the blank: ______ honest man never fears the truth.
2. Fill in the blank: He has been living in this city ______ 2015.
3. Fill in the blank: The property was divided ______ the four brothers.
4. Fill in the blank: She is very good ______ mathematics.
5. Fill in the blanks: The meeting has been fixed ______ 5 p.m. ______ Monday.
6. Which of the following sentences is grammatically correct?
7. Fill in the blanks: ______ Ganga rises in ______ Himalayas.
