India protects its wildlife through four different legal instruments, created at four different times, and most students learn only the place names. That is why this topic feels like endless memorisation when it is actually a short story with a clear order.
The story begins in 1936, when the country's first national park was set up in the Himalayan foothills. It gains its legal spine in 1972 with the Wildlife (Protection) Act, which for the first time defined what a sanctuary and a national park actually are. It gains a flagship in 1973 with Project Tiger. It gains an international layer in 1986 with the first biosphere reserve.
Every question you will be asked comes from one of those four layers. Once you can say what a category legally means, the park names stop being loose facts and become entries in a system — and a system is far easier to hold than a list.
