Every general studies paper that carries polity opens somewhere near this topic. SSC CGL and CHSL, Railway NTPC, BPSC TRE-4 and CTET all set questions on how the Constitution was made — and they set them because the answers are dates, names and lists, which are easy to frame and hard to guess.
It is also the most confusable block in polity. Four dates sit close together, three men held three different chairs, and ten countries lent India ten different ideas. Papers do not test whether you know these; they test whether you can keep them apart. The reliable wrong answer is always another true fact from the same story — Rajendra Prasad really did chair something, 26 January 1950 really is a Constitution date, the United States really did lend us something.
So learn this in three blocks: the Assembly and its people, the Preamble and the one amendment that touched it, and the borrowed features country by country.
1. The Constituent Assembly of India was constituted under which plan?
2. Who was the Chairman of the Drafting Committee of the Indian Constitution?
3. On which date was the Constitution of India adopted by the Constituent Assembly?
4. The words 'Socialist', 'Secular' and 'Integrity' were added to the Preamble by which Constitutional Amendment?
5. The Directive Principles of State Policy in the Indian Constitution have been borrowed from the Constitution of which country?
6. Who presided over the first sitting of the Constituent Assembly on 9 December 1946?
7. A federation with a strong Centre, with residuary powers vested in the Centre, has been adopted in the Indian Constitution from the Constitution of:
8. How long did the Constituent Assembly take to frame the Constitution of India?
