Unseen Passages in Hindi: Marks From Method, Not Memory
An unseen prose passage (अपठित गद्यांश) or unseen verse passage (अपठित काव्यांश) is a text you have never studied. It is followed by five to eight questions on its theme, title, word meanings and inferences. Nothing can be memorised in advance, which is exactly why it rewards a fixed method.
Hindi language sections of teacher-recruitment and staff-selection papers almost always carry at least one such passage. A candidate who reads well but answers from personal opinion loses marks; a candidate who answers strictly from the text gains them.
The next cards use a short original passage about a village pond and a two-line verse about a lamp. They show how to read, how to find the central idea and title, how to handle word-meaning questions, and how to avoid the inference traps.
